Reanimator 3 – Coming to Kickstarter

Reanimator Incorporated returns to Kickstarter next month with the third book in the series.

When lives shatter, who picks up the pieces? Herbert West, reeling from bereavement and the breakdown of his family, is pushed closer to the edge by a CEO seeking to weaponise Reanimation. West’s estranged wife, Gabby, struggles with personal demons, while their son, Mike, faces demons of an all-to-real nature as he descends deeper into Lovecraftian Hell, where Great Deep One Dagon and Judge Minos lie in wait.

Meanwhile, Detective Chaz Dexter Ward’s investigation into a spate of missing persons manifests in an encounter that fractures her very existence. What cost when divinity chooses not to intervene?

IF YOU GO AWAY – Interview

I had an interview with the wonderful P M Buchan about about maintaining a career creating comics, staying focused and dream projects.

You can read a sample below or check out the full interview HERE.

This week in IF YOU GO AWAY I interview illustrator, writer and comic-book artist Lyndon White about how he manages to maintain a career creating comics when so many others have failed. Read on past the interview to find out about the brilliant Pride & Prejudice (sort of) and Broken Hearts at Bodmin Jail.

Artist Lyndon White is a First-Class BA (Hons) Illustration for Graphic Novels graduate of Glyndŵr University whose work has been published by Image, Top Cow and Blue Fox Comics. He has run or contributed to over 30 successful Kickstarters and worked with clients including The Tower of London & Historic Palaces, Gatwick Airport and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.

Lyndon’s greatest achievement to date is his original fantasy graphic novels, Candles, which is published by Cast Iron Books. An all ages story about a sorcerer’s apprentice in a world where everybody is taught never to use magic, Candles echoes the work of Hayao Miyazaki in a gorgeously-illustrated story that only begins to hint at the world Lyndon has created.

As an aside, I feel like I’ve known Lyndon for as long as I can remember, though we definitely met in the 2010s when I was more actively writing and writing about comics and graphic novels. Over time I learned that Lyndon has all the qualities that you could possibly want in a friend and creative collaborator – he’s thoughtful, ambitious, always striving to improve and incredibly receptive to constructive feedback, and more than that, Lyndon is compassionate, patient, and loyal.

We worked together in 2019 on the pitch for a story called NOCTURNAL BLOOM (link further down in this email) and although we never found a publisher, the process of working together was one of the easiest collaborative experiences of my life. If you’re looking for an artist to work with, I can’t recommend Lyndon highly enough.

ANTARCTICA

Explore the possibilities beyond one’s world…

PORTLAND, Ore. 04/18/2023 — Top Cow Productions, Inc., the company behind The Darkness and Cyberforce, is thrilled to announce its latest sci-fi adventure series, Antarctica by Simon Birks (Hexes, Gone, Robyn) and Willi Roberts (Black in the Dark, ReMothered), set to release on Wednesday, July 12. Antarctica is a unique blend of Stargate and Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, with an emotionally driven story that is sure to captivate readers.

With roots back to a six-page short story in Top Cow’s Stairway Anthology, Matt Hawkins, President at Top Cow, said: “I loved it then and it was a no-brainer for me to support the creators in developing these multifaceted characters.”

Conceptualized and written by award-winning screenwriter Simon Birks, Antarctica follows the journey of a young engineer named Hannah, whose life imploded the day her father failed to return from the secretive Smith-Petersen Research Station in Antarctica. Alone and on the street, she’s at her lowest ebb when a friend offers help. Retrained as an engineer, Hannah secures a job at the same Antarctic station to search for her father and stumbles headfirst into a conspiracy that threatens everything she’s ever believed.

Birks added: “Antarctica takes no prisoners, and I’m excited to share our adventure with the readers. Willi and I have created something exceptional; an incredible experience full of unique twists and turns to keep everyone guessing right up until the end.”

Since Antarctica explores the themes of loss, identity, and sacrifice, Roberts knew he had a lot of work ahead of him. “Because the story is science-fiction, emotional and mature, I had to visualize a reality where both the characters and readers can accept that another world exists, said Roberts. “Everything lined up and Simon’s scripts inspired my art and my art, his scripts.”

Explore a mysterious new world that Birks and Roberts created and unlock the secret of Antarctica.

Antarctica #1 Cover A by Willi Roberts (Diamond Code MAY230051) and Cover B by Lyndon White (Diamond Code MAY230052) will be in comic shops on Wednesday, July 12 and also available on digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

Reanimator Incorporated: Funded

Reanimator Incorporated: Chapter One is now fully funded! Myself and Andy couldn’t be happier with how the project ran on Kickstarter and the amount of support we received.

So what’s next? For the moment, we are collecting the funds from backers & waiting on surveys to be filled in while I prepare the book for print. Thankfully, the core artwork and comic pages are already complete, it’s simply working through the extra concept art pages and design elements. In theory, we should be going to print this month (July).

To those of you who backed the project, thank you so much. Starting a new series can be a daunting task and having a strong level of support from the first chapter means so much.

All the best,

Lyndon

Candles – Live on Unbound

Generation after generation people are taught one thing, never use magic. The evil Witch has cast a plague known as Dark-bark over the land and one by one, infected villagers are lured into the enchanted forest never to be seen again. As a last resort to save her family, Grace embarks on a quest to steal the Witch’s magic and use it to save her dying village.

My new graphic novel Candles is now crowdfunding on Unbound. Unbound is world’s first crowdfunding publisher, allowing me to fund the project while I draw the book. Once the project hits it’s target, it then gets published.

Please check out the project via the link and support if you can. There’s an expert of the book so you can read more into the story and more details about the project. Pre-orders and pledges are the lifeblood of these kind of projects.

Candles is my next big graphic novel project. Combining my love of fantasy with the horror undertones that people have come to expect from my work. I hope you enjoy it and come along for the ride.

All the best,

Lyndon

The Call of Cthulhu Concertina Book – Live on Kickstarter

The Call of Cthulhu Kickstarter is now live!

After launching on the 14th of March the project hit its target within 3 hours, which is incredible.. While the campaign is running there will be reviews, interviews, Kickstarter spotlights and articles relating to all things Cthulhu. To those who are interested, please check out the Kickstarter via the link below. This is a small scale project compared to the comics and large scale graphic novels I’ve been working on this past year. So being able to fund a side project like this is amazing.

Thanks again for all your support.

Lyndon
